Follow-up to the May 15th teaching
Here is Sunday’s follow-up
I will use the analogy of a runaway freight train to describe the direction our nation is heading spiritually and morally. It’s a freight train that none of us can stop. You might ask – “Is there anything we can do?”
The answer is yes! We may not be able to stop it, but I believe we can slow it down a bit. So, how do we do that? Some obvious ways would be to vote and make your voice heard when and where you can. However, we need to understand that the answer is not political it is spiritual.
The only way people are going to change what they believe, the way they think, and thus the way they act is if they are born-again. God wants to use you to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the lost around you.
We are not going to reach everyone, but we can reach some. You might wonder how you as one individual can make a difference. In chapter 3 of Acts, God used Peter (1 person), to heal a man who never walked a day in his life. It was through this man’s healing, that thousands came to the saving knowledge of Jesus. His healing was a testimony to the truth and power of Jesus.
Peter and John in chapter 4 are arrested and the next day put on trial. Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 10 that this would happen and not to worry about what to say because the Holy Spirit would give them the words to speak.
Being filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter boldly proclaimed that it was through the name of Jesus that the man was made whole. Seeing the miracle of this man standing before them, they could do nothing because this man’s life was miraculously changed.
Your testimony comes in the form of your words and your life. What gives your testimony power is when people see the change in you that could only be done by God. The more time you spend with Jesus in His word and prayer, the more your life will change. The more like Jesus you become, the greater the witness of your life and words become.
When life seems to be falling apart around you and you press into Jesus. When you walk by faith trusting Him even when things don’t make sense. The greater the witness of your life and words become.
You may only be one person, but the power of your testimony can change the lives of many people. Just look at the Apostle Paul as an example.
