The two witnesses are dead
According to Revelation 11, at the end of the first 3½ years, the two witnesses will be killed. Their dead bodies will lie in the street for 3½ days where people from all around the world will gaze upon their dead bodies.
Everyone will rejoice over their deaths because of the misery they brought upon the world. There will be a worldwide celebration – exchanging of gifts - as though it was Christmas.
At the end of the 3½ days, the two witnesses will come back to life and ascend into heaven as everyone watches. Great fear will come upon the world. That will be followed by a great earthquake in Jerusalem where 7,000 people will die.
At this point, according to Revelation 12, Satan will be kicked out of heaven. He will likely possess the Antichrist and set up a throne in the Holy of Holies and declare himself to be god and call for everyone to worship him (2 Thessalonians 4). This is the abomination of desolation mentioned in Matthew 24. In addition, Israelites will begin to flee to what many believe will be the ancient city Petra in Jordan.
It is also likely at this point that the mark of the beast (Revelation 13) comes into play. Everyone will be required to receive it to buy and sell (think earning a living and buying things). Whatever the mark is it will go on the back of the right hand or forehead (probably some kind of RFIF chip). This will also be used to see who has accepted the Antichrist as god. Those who won’t accept it (Christians) will be put to death – beheaded (Revelation 20:4).
If you are still alive when you see these things happen, know that time is really short. Only 3½ years are left before Jesus returns. You still have time to repent. Don’t let your heart harden against Jesus. Turn to Him and receive the forgiveness of your sins and His gift of salvation.
