What in the world is happening?
Today we are going to look at the final judgment God pours out before His return.
Revelation 16:17–20 (ESV) — 17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found.
At this point, Jesus is about to return. During these past 7 years, mankind has faced various judgments of God. At least half of the world’s population has died as a result. Now you are about to face the last judgment God will pour out upon the earth.
You will know when this judgment has begun when you see flashes of lightning, thunder, and a great earthquake. This earthquake will be unlike anything man has seen. The largest recorded earthquake was in 1960 in Chile. It registered at 9.5. It killed roughly 1,655; injured at least 3,000; left about 2,000,000 people homeless. It was felt as far away as New Zealand, Japan, and the Philippines.
This earthquake will be so great that the city of Jerusalem will be split into 3 parts. Cities across the globe will be leveled. Islands will disappear. Every mountain around the world will be leveled. How severe will this quake be?
Consider this from the USGS in response to the question – “Can MegaQuakes really happen? Like a magnitude 10 or larger?”
No, earthquakes of magnitude 10 or larger cannot happen. The magnitude of an earthquake is related to the length of the fault on which it occurs. That is, the longer the fault, the larger the earthquake. A fault is a break in the rocks that make up the Earth's crust, along which rocks on either side have moved past each other. No fault long enough to generate a magnitude 10 earthquake is known to exist, and if it did, it would extend around most of the planet.
What the USGS fails to consider is who our God is. This quake will likely far surpass a 10.0 earthquake.
If that is not enough to shake you up, pun intended, 100 lbs hailstones will fall from heaven. Consider this:
The largest measured hailstone (diameter) was on July 23, 2010, in Vivian, South Dakota up to about 8”. The world’s heaviest hailstone weighed in at 2.25 lbs in Bangladesh in April 1986. The costliest hailstorm appears to be on April 10th, 2001. The storm is believed to have caused around 2.5 billion dollars. What do you think 100lb hailstones will do in terms of damage, deaths, etc….
How will people respond to this? They will curse God. How hard-hearted does one have to be to curse God because of His judgment upon the sin of man rather than repent?
I pray that you are not one of them.
