What is going on at that Church?

Have you ever spoken with someone who had visited another church and they came away feeling – “I wish my church was like that?” Could this be something you have experienced yourself?

Maybe it was the number of programs they had. Maybe it was how excited people were to be there. Maybe it was seeing how full the parking lot was when they pulled in. Maybe it was seeing how people responded at the end of the message when given the opportunity to be prayed for or receive Jesus as their Savior. Maybe it was how well the pastor spoke.

Comparing one church to another is something that even pastors can fall into. It can lead them and the church leaders to ask – “what is that church over there doing that is drawing people in?” If we can figure out what they are doing, maybe we can duplicate it and get the same results. The same thing can happen when you read about the church in the book of Acts.

In Acts chapter 2 you see thousands getting saved. We are told that the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. The believers were meeting daily in the temple courts. They met in one another’s home and shared a meal together. They were devoted to the Apostles teaching, to prayer and to fellowship.

Let’s consider the question – “What was the church doing that made it effective and fruitful?”
