The Greatest Gift
John North

Galatians 4:4-7
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.”

As Rich Miller has said, “When Christ entered our world, he didn't come to brighten our Novembers, but to transform our lives!”

The greatest gift ever given was the Father’s sending of his Son into our fallen world. He had planned it from the beginning. From the first, God was orchestrating events so that everything would be just right, ready, when his Son was born “in the fullness of time.”

Because of what Jesus did for us, we have been adopted by God as his sons and daughters. Our older brother, Jesus, has shared with us his precious relationship with God the Father. Now the Holy Spirit in our hearts is reassuring us of this relationship with God. He is encouraging us to speak with love and trust and total openness to God our Father, just like a little child on his daddy’s lap, chattering away happily. Your loving Father is leaning in to listen to you today.
