Sunday Follow-up
Romans 16 – “How you can make a difference”I want you to think of believers you know fairly well, especially those in your church family. When you think of them, what comes to your mind? Paul closes his letter to the church in Rome by asking them to greet different individuals. Some of the individuals, Paul will add a brief thought about them. For Paul, these were things that came to mind when he thought of them.
He referred to Phoebe as a servant. Several of them he referred to as hard workers. Several of them he referred to as dear friends. For some of them, Paul simply mentions their name but doesn’t say anything about them.
The question we should ask ourselves is, “Why does Paul mention these individuals?” These were all individuals who made a difference in Paul’s life or the body of Christ as a whole.
There are some believers out there who don’t believe they can make a difference in the body of Christ and the Kingdom of God. I shared several things yesterday that I believe every follower of Christ can do. These are things you may already be doing. If you will do these things, you will make a difference.
First, serve others. Second, be willing to make sacrifices to serve others. Third, be a good friend. Fourth, work hard for your church family. Fifth, stay faithful to Jesus no matter how hard it gets. Lastly, treat those in the body of Christ as family.
As you can see, these are all things that each of us is capable of doing. What I love about each of these points is that generally speaking, it doesn’t require certain spiritual gifts. It just requires that you have a willing heart and that you make yourself available.
Go out this week and be a difference-maker in someone’s life.
