Philippians 1:1-11
“Keeping one another in our thoughts and prayers”
We live in a technological age where people can stay connected like never before. We have cell phones, email, and various apps including church apps. And yet at times, it seems as though our church families are still disconnected. I don’t believe it’s because people don’t care.
There is an adage that says “Out of sight out of mind”. Not only is this true in life in general, but this can also be true in our church family. I believe coming together on Sundays and/or Wednesdays helps us keep one another in our thoughts and prayers.
What about the rest of the week though? What about those who only gather on Sundays? This is where we need to take advantage of the tools available to us. When you need prayer, use whatever mechanism your church family has to let others know about your need. Why? Because when the need is made known, people are now thinking about you. When they are thinking about you, they are more likely to pray for you. When you notice that someone hasn’t been around, send them a text or email letting them know you are thinking about them.
If your family is one in which you don’t attend regularly, let me encourage you in two ways. First, stay connected to your church family. Don’t wait for others to reach out to you, reach out to your church family. Share your prayer request or praise reports. Remember our goal is to do what we can to keep one another in our thoughts and prayers. Secondly, don’t minimize the importance of gathering with your church family. Don’t substitute live streaming with gathering with your brothers and sisters in Christ except when necessary. Remember, if you are out of sight, at some point you are likely to become out of mind.
The body of Christ is designed to be connected. Don’t let Satan rob you of the opportunities to be blessed by your church family, nor rob you of the chance to bless your church family. Have a blessed week.
