The return of the King
The judgments are done. The only thing that remains is for Jesus to come. We pick up in Revelation 19
Revelation 19:11–13 (ESV) Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
The rider on this white horse is none other than Jesus arrayed as king who conquered sin and death, who is coming to establish His kingdom on the earth. When Jesus came the first time, he came to bring salvation to mankind. He came as a suffering messiah. But when He comes again at the end of the 7-year tribulation period, He will return as king. In the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the last book was the “Return of the King”. That is what we see here in Chapter 19 of Revelation.
Revelation 19:14–16 (ESV) And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
When He returns, he will return with all those who died having faith in Him. The sword coming from the mouth of Jesus symbolizes his pronouncement of judgment upon the nations of the world.
